Day 4: Hostel 64: Pictures and Review

Having finally woken up early enough to enjoy Hostel 64's breakfast it seemed like a good time to take some pictures of where I had first been staying on my solo trip overseas. I had been staying at Hostel 64, a backpackers hostel that I would find not to be average the more hostels I stayed at. Housed in an old 4-story building from the 60s the Hostel has been renovated by an architecture firm in Osaka. The labor of love of this underlying design interest runs throughout the hostel like blood veins.

Day 3: Making friends at Balabushka

Balabushka is a sports bar in Namba but it played host to my first interaction through the tourist friendly website 'Couchsurfing'. Having been looking for ways to meet people I made use of Couchsurfing as a way of meeting people and later on for accommodation purposes.

Day 3: Some time wasting photography.

Like I said in my previous post I couldn't hang around cafe room roca until 5pm when I was to meet with my first contact on the trip, Kazuna from the Couchsurfing website. I was slightly nervous about meeting a complete stranger but I've done it before, and I was too distracted by Japan to let it bother me. So to kill sometime I explored Shinmachi and took some photos.

Day 3: Lunch at room cafe ロカ

I thought a lot on my second night in Osaka. After dinner yesterday I had to seriously think how I wanted to manage my photo taking and how I was going to recall everything that I experienced. What I was experiencing was so fantastic and wonderful that I just kept wondering 'How am I going to keep these memories?'

Day 2: Screw it. I'm walking into the next restaurant.

By the time I got back to the hostel from Uniqlo it was about 10:30. I wasn't pinning many hopes on finding a decent feed at this hour but undaunted I set out for a walk and decided that I was just gonna put all nerves aside and walk into the first restaurant I came across.

Day 2: 'GET THAT CAMERA OUT OF MY FACE' or not.

I had to visit Uniqlo straight away. It's a brand that I've always wanted to come to Australia and I've always admired their low costs but decent quality clothing. I was running on some pretty tattered clothing because I didn't bring much so I picked up some plain tees (What became my essential clothing item as the trip wore on), a buttoned shirt, a pair of Chinos, a belt and a hoody.

Day 2: Now what?

Well with breakfast/lunch sorted I had just realised that I didn't actually look at things to do on my first day. It might seem a little weird to arrive somewhere without a plan of things to see but that's just how I did things for most of my trip.

Day 2: What the hell can I have for breakfast?

God damn it. I overslept. By about 5 hours. By the time I finally got out of bed after my first sleep in 40 hours it was already way past breakfast time.

Day 1: Finding my hostel

Okay. I'm missing some photos for what I wanted to talk about before I arrived at my hostel but remember at this point of trip I was still ultra nervous about appearing as shit scared as I actually was.
