It has been a fairly hectic weekend, pointed by the fact that I only have time to do this on Monday morning. I think I can blame the World Cup for it all as I ended up crashing to bed at 9pm last night hoping to wake up for the England vs Germany game but slept right through it. I really have to stop staying up for pointless games and pace myself for the better ones. I was shattered to hear the result this morning... looked like a great game! Ah well
Friday night was kicked off with some Teppenyaki dinner for Belles birthday at Kobe in Doncaster. It was pretty expensive and we were the last group for the night so I think the chef was fairly tired and over it. I haven't had Teppenyaki since Three treated me while I was up in Sydney and it was only my second time so it was disappointing to get a tired chef but it was still a great dinner and good company for the night. I just wish that the Teppenyaki was better.
Saturday was a busy day that kicked off with a 10am road trip to Frankston for our game against Skye United. I was looking forward to a good game and after being named in the starting XI I was really raring to go at the kick off. But about 5 minutes in the heavens opened up and a storm rolled in. It was a nightmare and the rain just got heavier and heavier. The pitch became waterlogged and by half time the game was called off for safety reasons. I wish I had have took my camera, but it was seriously just a mud bath. The game ended in a 0-0 draw despite my best effort of the season with a powerful flick on from a well-delivered corner that was cleared off the line by a defender who later told me he didn't have any idea how he cleared it. Ah well!
I had planned on going to a birthday at Strike for Mabelle, but after being stuck in city traffic for 50 minutes looking for a park, and then finding out that Crown's multi-level carpark was closed I bailed and met up with the JDMST Crew.
It was easily our biggest meet ever so props to Mike Stevens for his effort in organising it. I got into a bit of an argument with an over zealous security guard who refused to let us take photos in the car park. It wouldn't have been so bad provided he had treated me with a bit of respect, but he was dismissive, rude and wouldn't acknowledge my attempts to find a resolution. I understand security guards have a duty, but there's no need to be a nazi about things.
The night ended with the Korea vs Uruguay game at Resh's, which we almost all fell asleep too. It was sad to see Korea drop out, but Uruguay deserved the win. Despite their negative tactics after the first goal, after Korea equalized, they started pushing again and were clearly the better side.
Onto tonights games! C'mon Brazil and Holland!
