BBQ

Melbourne is really starting to wear thin on me. Why is it that everytime you organise something like a BBQ it decides to rain or have gail force winds? SIGH!

Anyway, work had over $750 of prepaid visa cards to spend and we've been slowly picking them off through the weeks and decided to spend the last of it on an end of year BBQ for the team. It was really good to just get out and not talk about work with the people you spend a lot of your time with. It only lasted a few hours before it started raining and got really cold but it was still fun.

2020 Cricket

Cricket season is back on which means my brother is on the field trying to avoid further injuries. Went yesterday to help with some photography and to support him as he played against Manningham. Suburban cricket seems to be perfect for this controversial form of the game as the games last little more than 4 hours and it's fun to watch.

Further adding to the excitement was the fact that we won the game with a 6 off the final ball of the day. Go bro!

Felix and Fox

Cafe Ito

Sydney siders Justin Fox and Felix Alim were in town this weekend for a whirlwind visit of Melbourne. I've met Justin a few times through JDMST and other friends from my time in Sydney but I had never met Felix personally even though we are all in the same circle so it was certainly a pleasure to finally meet him and his girlfriend Diane. Diane runs a very nice food blog at Be The Foodie by the way so check it out.

It's always a pleasure to chat with Justin, who is one of the most interesting guys I know to chat with, and meeting Felix who owns a rather spectacularly modified DC2R and a pretty avid photographer, as well as plenty of new faces from ClubITR.com and Justin's family made dinner and drinks very enjoyable and interesting.

We started at the typically tourist Transport Bar at Fed Square for a drink before jamming our foot in the door just before closing time at Cafe Ito on Bourke St. I hadn't been there before but I was surprised to find another Ramen restaurant to add to the list in Melbourne. The CITR boys had to scoot off after that but I was asked if there was anywhere for a drink that was 'quintessentially Melbourne'. I could only think of Cookie and the Rooftop Bar and so that's where we ventured.

Felix's Camera, Rooftop Bar and Asahi on Tap

You can probably imagine that Felix's 5D evoked feelings of inadequacy when compared to my meager D60 and it's fixed 35mm. It's such a beast to hold and my god does it take some crisp shots.

I think they were sufficiently impressed with Rooftop Bar until it started playing Jimi Jamisons - I'll Be Ready on full blast. If you're unfamiliar with this song, reacquaint yourself right here.  It was time to call it a night and head home.

It was good to get out and even though I was hoping till after my exams to blow off some steam it was very welcome. Come back soon guys!
